Iain Roberts, 30, Skeleton
Introduction
Iain Roberts is vying for a chance to represent New Zealand on the track that he has described as an ‘unforgiving beast’ – a track with the world’s largest vertical drop on which athletes travel at speeds of up to 120kph. Iain first represented New Zealand in 2004 and has competed at two World Championships. He is completing a PhD in a subject close to his heart – skeleton and bobsleigh design.
Iain describes his sport as "fast paced test of skill under extreme conditions, high speed and forces on the body. The venue is an unforgiving beast where a small mistake is costly."
