Blake Skjellerup, 24, Short Track Skating
Introduction
Blake first competed for New Zealand when he was twelve years old and now, at 24, is the NZ Speed Skater of the Year and the New Zealand Junior Maori Sportsman of the Year. As part of the Olympic Team to Vancouver, Blake wants to inspire New Zealanders to take up speed skating and understand the Olympic Movement. He likens his sport to NASCAR but with razor-sharp blades…
Blake says “Speed skating is like NASCAR or Speedway on ice where you have razor-sharp blades on your feet.”
